Summary
Camilla Downs is a project leader and family navigator who has been with Family Navigation Network since February 2022. She is also the mom to two kids, Thomas and Lillian, who are now adults. She has single-parented them and advocated for them from the time they were 1 and 5 years old.
Camilla is certified as a Special Needs Life Quality Coach. She is also a bestselling author, indie publisher, and volunteer 18p coordinator for The Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society. Prior to becoming a mom, she had a career as a paralegal, working at the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office—Civil Division in Tacoma, Washington. Camilla considers herself a master improviser and problem solver. She can assess a situation, nail down the tasks, take action, and get results.
Lillian has a rare chromosome deletion called 18p-, Level 2 autism, and anxiety. Thomas has Level 1 autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Camilla has ADHD and anxiety. They are a diverse and neurosis family!
Thomas will graduate from TMCC Magnet High School in June 2024 with their high school diploma, an AA, and an AAS degree. After that, they will obtain a degree in game design. Lillian graduated as a homeschooler in June 2018. She has been dealing with various health issues over the past several years.
Nature and life experiences are constant sources of inspiration for Camilla’s writing. She also enjoys reading, going for walks and swimming, watching sci-fi, fantasy, and action-packed movies and series, and capturing nature’s essence with photographs. Camilla lives in South Reno with her two kids.
