Summary

Lydia DeFlorio earned her Ph.D. in Education, with a concentration in Human Development and Education, from the University of California, Berkeley. Her primary areas of interest include cognitive and socioemotional development from infancy through adolescence, early mathematical development, parenting and families, and curriculum design, implementation, and efficacy in culturally and socioeconomically diverse early childhood settings. Her current research interests focus on early mathematics both in the home and classroom learning environments, with a specific focus on interventions targeting parents and preschool teachers of children at-risk for mathematical difficulties in the preschool and primary grades. Professionally, she has a wide range of experience in early childhood education, child and family mental health/social services, and intervention work with at-risk and delinquent youth.
