External relationships that must be disclosed
When a University employee has a relationship with an external entity that could benefit from the employee's decisions on behalf of the University, the potential exists for conflicts of interests.
State and NSHE policies prohibit University employees from becoming contractors or vendors for the purchase of supplies, equipment, services and construction to any NSHE institution, except under certain circumstances. Additionally, University employees are prohibited from participating in the selection, award, or administration of any contract to an NSHE institution if he or she has a perceived or actual conflict of interests. Such a conflict of interests would arise when the University employee, any member of his or her immediate family, his or her partner, or an organization that employs or is about to employ any of the parties indicated herein, has a financial or other interest in, or a tangible personal benefit from, an entity considered for a contract.
