Summary

Jacqueline Pistorello is Faculty Emerita (former Counseling Services Director). She remains active as a research faculty at Counseling Services, where she has worked with college students for almost two decades. She specializes in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches for preventing and treating mental health problems among college students. She has received multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health to study the application of psychotherapeutic treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) towards interventions with college students. Dr. Pistorello currently has a multisite NIMH grant, in collaboration with the University of Oregon, Duke University, and Rutgers University, to help 推荐杏吧原创 students struggling with suicidal thoughts and behavior. She has published three books: Finding Life Beyond Trauma, a self-help book for trauma survivors utilizing ACT, an edited book on Mindfulness and Acceptance for Counseling College Students, and more recently an edited book in Portuguese-the Manual prático Internacional de Terapia de Aceitação e Compromisso [International Practical Handbook of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy].
