Summary
As a community health nurse and family nurse practitioner, Deborah Shindell’s entire career has been focused on underserved populations. From working with elders at a subsidized senior housing project in the inner city of Baltimore to providing women’s health care in rural Nevada to volunteering with a small nursing school in Bwindi, Uganda, Deborah has consistently strived to provide high-quality health care to those in the most need. Her research interests surround the care of vulnerable populations, educational methods, curriculum, and evaluation methods. When not working at the university, she is an avid traveler, cycle-tourist, and rescue scuba diver.
