Born and raised in Reno, Salem Neufeld, a member of the 推荐杏吧原创 class of 2026, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology through the Honors Baccalaureate Pathway. Neufeld chose to attend the 推荐杏吧原创 because of his love for the community and the city, and he is dedicated to inspiring future students by sharing his passion for both the University and the community he calls home.

As a student majoring in both biology and chemistry in the Honors College, Neufeld is on a pre-med track, hoping to turn his passion for medicine into a career helping others. In addition to his studies, Neufeld serves as the marketing and publicity outreach coordinator for the Honors College, a role that allows him to advocate for the college's mission of applying education in meaningful ways.

Neufeld also works with local high schools, where he guides prospective students through the benefits and opportunities available in the Honors College. He admits that he was initially unsure about joining the Honors College, but his perspective changed after learning more. “I really liked the stance that Honors takes here. It’s, ‘We want you to succeed,’ and I think that message is important because a lot of people were in the same mindset I was,” Neufeld said. His ability to relate to students has helped him build strong connections with those on similar paths.

As the lead Honors ambassador, Neufeld’s favorite part of his job is the chance to connect with students. “Learning what people have done or want to do is interesting,” Neufeld said. “Just meeting new people and seeing what they can do.”

He hopes that by sharing his own experiences, other students will feel encouraged to take the next step in their academic journey.

Set to graduate in spring 2026, Neufeld envisions his role within the Honors College continuing to evolve as he builds on his experiences. He hopes to leave a lasting impact by fostering a supportive community and helping future students thrive.

When he’s not working, Neufeld enjoys playing strategic games, including board games and video games. He believes that Reno has a lot to offer for those who know where to look, and he’s always eager to share his discoveries. Neufeld’s experiences in the Honors College and his connection to Reno reflect his commitment to making a difference, both now and in the future. He truly embodies The Wolf Pack Way.
