A momentous year is about to take place for the ƼӰԭ. Our institution’s 149th anniversary is on Oct. 12, 2023 and will kick off a yearlong celebration to honor the impact and legacy of the University, and all who have exemplified The Wolf Pack Way, culminating in the 150th anniversary on Oct. 12, 2024.
As we begin to look back at our impressive history and dream of the next 150 years that lay before us, University President Brian Sandoval will give the State of the University address “A University’s Expectation to Always Make History” on Oct. 17, 2023, in the Milt Glick Ballroom in the Joe Crowley Student Union starting at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow.
President Sandoval will address the current state of the University as well as share his vision for our University’s future. Specifically, the President will delve into why it is important to embrace and celebrate the University’s history while continually looking ahead for ways to innovate and challenge the norms within higher education as we near the sesquicentennial celebration.
He will speak to how the University must reach out and meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student body and make good on its historic land-grant promise to provide accessibility and opportunity for higher education for all Nevadans, provide the means for a highly talented faculty to continue to make a name for itself on local, regional, national and international scales, and to continue to partner with our communities in making northern Nevada and the City of Reno one of the most dynamic and successful regions in the country. He will also address exciting projects, initiatives and the University’s budget for the coming biennium.
The State of the University Address is free to attend and open to the entire community. .
