Each year, the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) holds two diversity summits; one is held in northern Nevada and the other is in southern Nevada. The day-long events include various tracks and sessions related to inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA), and the connections to student success initiatives, workforce and economic development, community engagement, and pipelines to higher education.

The selected theme of “Effective Inclusion: Understanding & Supporting Experiences of Belonging” was voted on by the Cultural Diversity Committee with input from various affinity groups.

The Northern Nevada Diversity summit will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union on campus at the 推荐杏吧原创 on April 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The summit and associated sessions are free for all faculty, staff and students of NSHE institutions and for community partners to attend.

Program Development Specialist in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Angela Moore, has been instrumental in organizing the Northern Nevada Diversity Summit. “I hope this event will provide a space for people who care about topics related to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access to connect, share ideas, struggles, best practices, fascinating questions, and be together in community,” Moore said. “I most look forward to the conversations.”

You can on the NV Diversity Summit website and you can the event. Some virtual sessions will be available for those who cannot attend in person. Sessions will be led by experts from across NSHE institutions.

The keynote speaker is Brandon Wolf, Pulse Nightclub survivor, Equality Florida press secretary, activist, co-founder of the Dru Project and author of “A Place for Us.” See on the NV Diversity website.
