Development Technician praised for professional proficiency and interpersonal style

Mark Lattin, Development Technician in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been named the Staff Employees Council's March Employee of the Month.

Lattin, in his position as Development Technician, has helped the faculty in the department in numerous ways. Nominator Esmaeel Rahmanishamsi, a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Engineering, noted that Lattin has "helped me with my experimental studies during my Ph.D. project," which has been part of a NEESR Grand Challenge Project.

"I have worked with Mark for over two years and can attest to his outstanding character and work ethic," Rahmanishamsi wrote in his nomination letter. "During the time that Mark and I worked together, I found him to be very efficient and helpful. I could always count on Mark to pitch in where needed, often with very little notice.

"Many times his help was beyond his position duty. I have observed his professional skills as well as interpersonal style. He is consistently pleasant, and takes on all tasks with enthusiasm and dedication."

For his part, Lattin said he most enjoys the "variety and challenge" of his daily work in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering: "Every day is different. The problems I have to solve for research and teaching are very difficult, but very rewarding once the solution is found."
