Public invited to event set for Sept. 14 at the Main Station Field Lab

The public is invited to visit the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´'s Main Station Field Lab for their annual Field Day to view alternative crop projects, learn about biofuels and livestock production, taste experimental wines, visit Wolf Pack Meats and learn about the many outreach programs such as Herds to Harvest, Master Gardener and Living with Fire.

The ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´'s Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station, College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will be hosting their annual Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. The event is open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and located off Reno's Clean Water Way, near the intersection of South McCarran and Mill Streets.

In addition to tours, students and faculty will be presenting their research; UNCE will be presenting outreach and education programs and representatives from the High Desert Farming Initiative and Urban Roots will be discussing different techniques to extend the growing season in northern Nevada.

Children are welcome to participate in hands-on science, 4-H activities, and hay rides. This year's annual plant sale will feature desert cacti and succulents. Lunch will be available for purchase from Wolf Pack Meats.

This is an opportunity to peek behind the scenes, talk with the experts and learn about the colleges' latest research and community outreach projects. Field Day is free and open to the public.
