RENO, Nev. — More than 135 students from middle schools in the Reno-Sparks community will visit the 推荐杏吧原创 campus on March 6 as part of the pilot program, Joining the Pack. The program is targeted toward middle school students to encourage them to start thinking about college as an option. Students from Vaughn, Sparks, Pine and Dilworth middle schools will be in attendance.
“We’re trying to get these students excited about college earlier than high school,” the University Multicultural Center Indigenous Student Coordinator Markie Wilder said. “We have found that students that begin to think about and start planning for college in middle school are more likely to attend college after high school graduation.”
During their visit, the students will tour the campus, meet different faculty and administrative members and participate in activities with various campus organizations like the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN), Counseling Services and the Multicultural Center.
