Cellular and Molecular Imaging Core

The Cellular and Molecular Imaging (CMI) Core provides users with instruments and services for analyzing and quantifying biomolecules in addition to microscopic investigation of cells, tissues, organs, and small animals with imaging capabilities for brightfield and fluorescent microscopy.

Computational Modeling and Analysis Core

The Computational Modeling and Analysis (CMA) Core provides access to state-of-the-art high-performance computing, cloud computing, networking and advanced analytical software, while providing services to aid investigators in neuroscience and biomedical research to develop more effective data analytics pipelines.

Virtual & Augmented Reality Interaction Core

The Virtual and Augmented Reality Interaction (VARI) Core facility, located in the William Pennington Engineering Building, provides state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) equipment as well as training and software development services to aid University faculty, students, and external organizations in neuroscience research.

Equipment list

  • VR headsets: We offer 10 tethered VR headsets with varying capabilities including eye tracking; 5 standalone VR headsets; and a high-quality headset (Varjo XR-3 with nearly photo realistic rendering capabilities)
  • AR headsets: HoloLens 2 and Magic Leap 2
  • Supporting computing equipment including four desktop computers and two VR-capable laptops
  • Various equipment for full body input or facial tracking (Azure Kinect/Vive face tracker)

Neuroimaging Core

The COBRE Neuroimaging Core was designed to support the usage and analysis of data from a variety of structural and functional neural imaging technologies and techniques, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), high-density array electroencephalography (HD EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
