Bachelor of Music in Music Education

This professional degree is designed for students pursuing teaching careers in K-12 schools. Students enrolled in this program gain skills and knowledge in music and performance and are equipped to serve as effective teachers across multiple disciplines. The coursework is taught by experienced practitioners and an emphasis is placed on personal attention and regular immersion in K-12 schools. This liberal arts degree provides a well-rounded education with a focus on foundational studies in music. Students explore the fundamentals of music theory and history, engage in applied study and ensemble performance, and draw from a diverse and rich curriculum offered across the University. Offering the most flexibility of the music degrees, this program can enhance creative thinking, problem solving, and collaboration and can be paired as a dual-major with other disciplines such as STEM fields.

  • Graduate study in other fields (such as medical, law, the humanities)

Minor in Music

This program provides opportunities for students in majors from other disciplines to develop an appreciation for diverse music genres, to be exposed to music theory and history, and to experience solo and ensemble performance. The Music Minor track explores the fundamentals of music while the Music Industry Minor track explores the fundamentals of sound recording techniques within our world-class recording facilities.
