Information for directors

For questions about the Festival, contact our staff at (775) 784-4278.

How to prepare for the Festival

  • All students, directors, parents, and chaperones must purchase a festival pass (wristband) for access to festival events.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Reno Jazz Festival Rules and Regulations.
  • Groups are scheduled on a first-come first-served basis, based on receipt of both registration information and payment of registration fees.
  • Performance spots fill up quickly. Schools are encouraged to register early.  If registration occurs after all performance spots have been filled, you will be notified of your placement on the waitlist. Group registration fees are required to be on the waitlist. A full refund will be issued if your group is not accepted into the festival or you choose to be removed from the waitlist.
  • High school groups will be placed in performance rooms based on the school’s enrollment number. Please have this information on hand before registering.
  • The Reno Jazz Festival reserves the right to use any photographs taken during the festival in accordance with the 推荐杏吧原创 photo release policy.
  • Registration and group passes can be purchased through the following methods:
    • Credit card: Our system only accepts Visa and Mastercard.  You will enter your payment information at the end of online registration.
    • Check/approved purchase order: To register by check or approved purchase order, enter coupon code “RJFSchool24” at checkout.  This payment option is available through March 31st.  After completing the online registration, you will receive a system generated confirmation email – this is not an invoice.  Within two business days of your order date, you will receive an invoice via email attachment.  Please send a copy of your invoice with your check/approved purchase order.  Payment must be received within 15 calendar days of invoice date to keep your order date for scheduling purposes.  If payment is received after 15 calendar days, the date that payment is received will be used for scheduling.  After 30 days of non-payment, your registration is subject to cancellation.  A confirmation email will be sent when payment is received.

Reno Jazz Festival commissioned music

In 2022, we launched a new tradition of commissioning music from underrepresented composers. Registered schools can sign-up to receive that Festival year’s music composition. Email Reno Jazz Festival with subject line “New Music”. The commissioned artist will be available to meet with students and directors at the Festival during a Q & A meeting. Check Festival Schedule for date and time.

Festival etiquette and safety

While on campus please be considerate of University faculty, staff and students as well as other Festival participants. Do not play your instruments except in designated warm-up, performance or feedback areas.  Any festival participant caught being disruptive, stealing, or vandalizing property will be immediately expelled from the campus and appropriate legal action will be taken.

In all performance and clinic rooms, seating capacity for all events is limited to room capacity per the Reno Fire Marshal.  Aisles must be kept clear at all times.  Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  As a courtesy to others please do not save seats.  Audience doors to performance areas will be closed during performances; entrance will only be permitted during a break in the performance.  Food and drinks are not permitted in performance areas.

We ask that directors please:

  • Keep track of scheduled times
  • Take responsibility for your students’ behavior
  • Keep your students together
  • Be courteous to festival volunteers and staff

We ask that students please:
