Application requirements and fees

In addition to meeting the , you will need the items below to apply to the low-residency MFA in interdisciplinary arts. 

The University has two MFAs in Visual Arts. Please ensure you select “Interdisciplinary Art MFA” as your intended program of study and the sub-plan “Low Residency.”

For admission to fall term, the priority deadline is March 1, and the final deadline is May 1. Fall terms start with the Summer Residency at the beginning of August. For additional information or questions about the application process, please contact the Graduate Program Director, Kristin Hough at khough@unr.edu.

Note: GRE scores are not required. There is no foreign language requirement.

Program fees

The low-residency MFA in interdisciplinary arts is a five-semester program.

  • Access to artist lectures and other events during residency

  • Studio visits with faculty, visiting artists, and staff
  • Welcome bag with various items to support time at residency
  • Scheduled shuttle service to/from Reno Airport on the first and last days of residency

Funding

The Low Residency MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts program offers merit-based scholarships. All incoming students are considered for a scholarship, which are awarded based on the submitted portfolio.

The Department of Art offers annual scholarships that low-residency MFA-IA students can apply for once admitted.
