Summary

Dr. Douglas Boyle is the Interim Vice Provost and Dean at the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ at Lake Tahoe Wayne L. Prim Campus and is the executive in charge of campus operations and academics. Previous to this position, Dr. Boyle served as the Associate Vice Provost for Research and Creative Activities at the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ at Lake Tahoe.

Dr. Boyle is a professor and former Chair of the Geography Department at UNR. He is also the former Nevada State Climatologist and the former Director of the Nevada Water Resources Research Institute. Dr. Boyle earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in 1989 from the University of Southern California, an M.S. in Hydrology and Hydrogeology in 1996 from the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, and a Ph.D. in Hydrology and Systems Engineering in 2000 from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Boyle’s research interests involve using integrated computer-based modeling of hydrologic processes to understand the impacts of historic and future climate on water resources in arid and semi-arid environments using paleoclimate information (e.g., pluvial lakeshore dating, glacial moraines, tree ring records, and other climate indicators), global climate model output, and instrumental ground-based information. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, NASA, USGS, USBR, and many other governmental agencies.
