Graduate assistantships

The Department of Geography supports several graduate teaching assistantships (TA). During the spring semester, eligible applicants can apply for a graduate teaching assistantship for the following academic year. Filled by M.S. and Ph.D. students, teaching assistantships are for one year, and renewal for a second year (or third for Ph.D. students) is contingent upon the student's progress and performance.

The Department of Geography also typically has several graduate research assistantships (RA) available. As these are most often funded by external research grants, individual faculty usually select graduate student advisees for these assistantships. In many cases, these will be advertised and students will be recruited in order to fill these positions.
