Cybersecurity & network systems

Our research focuses on various aspects of computer and communication networks (both in wired and wireless domains) and enabling secure and efficient use of cyberspace from technical, economic and social standpoints. Additionally, we investigate complex networks ranging from social networks to biological networks.

Faculty conduct research into wireline networking areas such as network architectures and economics, network measurement and management, peer-to-peer networks, edge computing, and cloud computing to improve the Internet and other networking experiences.

In wireless networking, faculty conduct research on traditional wireless networking issues as well as UAV ad hoc/mesh networks, cognitive radio, wireless sensors and Internet of things to make better use of network infrastructure and accommodate growing demand for high-speed mobile networking.

In the cybersecurity area, faculty conduct research on cyber-physical systems, network security, system reliability, interdisciplinary cybersecurity, virtual machines, operating systems, power systems, control systems, Internet of things, smart grid and cloud computing security. Research areas also focus on privacy, anonymization, and blind processing issues as well as digital forensics and traffic fingerprinting to protect the digital world.

Network researchers also focus on using network science to understand complex networks, including infrastructure networks such as the Internet and power grid, biological networks such as protein interactions and epidemics, information networks such as digital coins and software development, and social networks such as OSNs and news media.
