Memorial trees program

From 1974 to 1991 the University Arboretum offered a Memorial Tree Program, which gave donors the opportunity to plant a tree in someone's memory.  This program helped to significantly develop the Arboretum.  The trees were marked with wooden posts that provided memorial and species information.  In the intervening years, those wooden posts and plaques weathered to the point where they became unattractive and in some cases illegible.

In 2016 the posts were removed, but the information contained on the plaques can still be accessed in the Memorial Tree Records.
