Casey Varabkanich-Payne is a master’s student in biological anthropology with interests in forensic anthropology and growth and development of human skeletal systems, particularly the pelvis. Varabkanich-Payne has experience in archaeological excavation and teaching in the anthropology and English departments. His previous experience includes brief employment with the Columbus Police Department as a fingerprint technician; reconstruction, fragment analysis, and dental photography of ongoing research into St. Catherine’s island under direction of Dr. Clark Spenser Larsen at The Ohio State University; and excavation with the Institute for Research and Learning in Archeology and Bioarcheology (IRLAB) for cemetery restoration in Pickaway County, Ohio. Casey’s current research focuses on hormone replacement therapy’s effect on the subpubic concavity development in adolescents.
