Summary
Jodie Barker received a B.A. in French and women's studies from Wayne State University and a M.A. in romance languages and literatures from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She began her doctoral work at L'Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon, France and completed it in the Department of French at Rutgers University. Her dissertation, entitled Vers/Mouvements: Ethics of Difference in French-Language Poetry and Theatre from 1970-1982, engages philosophy with movement in poetry and theatre in French speaking worlds.
Jodie is interested in translation, art and the avant-garde, movement and corporality, l'extrême contemporain, continental philosophy, and creative pedagogy. She teaches courses on French language, literature, writing, business, culture and translation. Currently, she is translating the poems of Léon-Gontran Damas.
