Project overview
The United States has rates of roadway fatalities that are several times higher than peer countries and Nevada is rated as one of the deadliest states for pedestrians and bicyclists. This project focuses on safety and equity of signalized street intersections in the City of Reno. The student will gain experience in mapping/GIS and tabular data analysis (e.g. Excel), and in design, collection and interpretation of survey data. The project will involve collaboration with City of Reno staff and could be of interest to a variety of majors including geography, civil engineering, public health and others. While some experience with Excel, GIS or data analysis could be helpful, the most important qualification is your interest!
