Classified Employee of the Month award
The Classified Employee of the Month award is awarded each month to classified staff. It is designed for the following:
- Recognizing outstanding full-time and part-time classified staff who exemplify the University's standards for excellence and innovation
- Rewarding those employees who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution, and performance in their jobs and other related duties beyond their own offices
- Acknowledging those whose efforts have inspired and supported the performance and achievement of others
- Providing awards to such employees by a means that is fair, with equal consideration of all eligible staff, regardless of the focus or level of responsibility within the University
Classified Employee of the Month eligibility
- Nominee must be a full-time, part-time classified staff employee of the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´
- Must have been employed for at least one (1) year
- Can be employed at any of the University's physical locations
- Has not been selected as Employee of the Month within the past twelve (12) months
Award criteria
An eligible employee may be nominated based upon, but not limited to, the following criteria:
- At least five years of cumulative service with NSHE by the date of nomination. For a candidate with fewer than five years of cumulative service within NSHE, an additional letter of justification must be submitted.
- Contribution to the achievement of NSHE’s or UNR’s mission and goals;
- Attitude towards fellow employees, students, and the public, as well as attitude towards work, including, availability, cooperation, courtesy, friendliness, helpfulness, and presence on the job;
- Service to fellow employees, students and the public;
- Work quality, including accuracy, completion, creativity, dependability, initiative, and timeliness;
- Participation where involvement was beyond the scope of regular duties; and
- Interest in professional or self-development.
Award recipients receive the following
The Classified Staff Employee of the Month award recipient shall receive:
- A certificate suitable for framing
- Their name will appear for the month on the Lawlor Events Center marquee
- A letter from President Brian Sandoval congratulating them and inviting them to have coffee and a pastry with him
- A Blue Card entitling them to discounts and freebies:
- Free 30-day membership to the E. L Wiegand Fitness Center
- Two complimentary tickets to an athletic event (excluding premium games)
- Two complimentary tickets to a University Theatre and Dance performance
Nomination forms
Nominations are currently being solicited for the 2025 award and are due November 8, 2024. Any employee or student may submit a formal nomination.
All nomination letters should address the following information:
- How the candidate accomplished a significant record of excellence in service that is worthy of recognition by the Board of Regents.
- Clear evidence of the following:
- Specific service to NSHE, UNR, the campus community, and/or other classified staff; and
- Any other supplemental materials that support the nomination.
