Freshman Start
Freshman start is for students whose ACT/SAT scores place them into remedial ENG 98, MATH 95, or MATH 96. These courses need to be successfully completed before moving on to the college-level courses required for all degrees at the university. Freshman Start allows incoming freshman to take these classes during the Summer Session and stay on track for graduation.
Summer Orientation
Academic Advisement for all incoming freshman is done at summer orientation. All incoming freshman will have an academic hold on their MyNEVADA accounts until they attend summer orientation. At summer orientation, the student will meet with their advisor to review class schedules, core curriculum, degree requirements, and make changes to schedules if necessary. Information for orientation registration will appear in your MyNevada "To-Do List".
NevadaFIT
NevadaFIT is short for "Freshman Intensive Transition." NevadaFIT is a five day academic program designed to increase success for incoming college students. The bootcamp program offers a glimpse into the University's rigorous academic expectations and college life prior to the start of the semester.
NevadaFIT programs offered in Health Sciences:
- HealthFIT: Community Health Sciences (Public Health, Kinesiology, Pre-Nursing, Social Work and Speech Pathology and Audiology).
