Summary
Dr. Kwon joined the 推荐杏吧原创 in August of 2022. Previously, he was a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Washington State University for 25 years, where he also served as an Affilliate Professor in the Program in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. He served as Director of the Psychology Clinic for six years at WSU, and served as Director of Clinical Training for four years. In 2017, he received the Washington State University Faculty Diversity Award for his research, teaching, and service accomplishments in advancing diversity and social equity issues. Dr. Kwon was a founding editorial board member and former Associate Editor for Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. He currently serves as a Publications Board member for the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy, Division 29 of the American Psychological Association. He also serves as a Consulting Editor for the Journal of Clinical Psychology and as an editorial board member for Cognitive Therapy and Research. He has been a site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association since 2008, evaluating 30 doctoral programs and serving as site visit chair on 17 of those visits.

Dr. Kwon is planning to recruit a student to start in Fall 2025.
Research interests
Dr. Kwon's research investigates the role of resilience variables in how stigmatized individuals, particularly LGBTQ and ethnic minority individuals, cope with environmental stressors. His work examines the ways in which people can thrive and succeed despite prejudice and stigma, leading to interventions and prevention efforts to foster resilience in these populations.
