The NNIC has successfully resettled over 500 displaced people here in Reno since August 2016. At least one adult in each family is employed.
The global refugee crisis is greater now than at any point since World War II. UNHCR estimated in the middle of 2022 that more than 103 million people have been forcibly displaced, 37.4 million of which are refugees and asylees. The United States and several other industrialized countries are resettling fewer than 0.1% of all individuals who are fleeing conflict because they are being persecuted for their religious or political beliefs, their race or ethnicity, or some other factor.
Refugees join communities seeking peace and opportunities for themselves and better futures for their children. You can help NNIC in resettling refugees in the Northern Nevada community by donating funds or household items for newly arrived families, becoming a refugee youth mentor and volunteering with the resettlement program.
