April 11, 2025

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming 2025 Northern Nevada Diversity Summit, which will be held on Monday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Joe Crowley Student Union. The event is open to faculty, staff, students and community members and is held in collaboration with the Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College and Western Nevada College.

During this free, one-day conference, attendees will participate in workshops, panel discussions, research presentations, poster presentations and dialogue sessions in support of promoting health and wellbeing for all Nevadans. The theme of this year’s summit is “Health and Wellbeing: Exploring Circumstance, Community, and Culture.”

Sessions during the summit will encourage attendees to engage around the many ways that health and wellbeing are experienced across the lifespan. Topics will explore the life circumstances that impact physical and mental health and access to healthcare, the role of community in managing physical and mental health challenges, the influence of identity and culture on health behaviors and outcomes, and the role of digital tools and telehealth in advancing health equity.

This year’s keynote speaker is University of Nevada alumna Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell, a longtime leader in providing healthcare and sharing healthcare information with the state of Nevada and the state’s diverse communities.

Dr. Curry-Winchell completed her residency in family medicine at the 推荐杏吧原创 School of Medicine and is a 2002 graduate of the 推荐杏吧原创. She serves as the Medical Director of Urgent Care Clinics at Saint Mary’s Regional Center and is a past president of the Washoe County Medical Society. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Curry-Winchell contributed her expertise to the Reno Mayor’s Task Force and the Governor’s Medical Advisory Team for Nevada. She was honored as one of the Sierra Nevada’s Top 20 Most Powerful Women in 2019, received the PBS Spotlight Extraordinary Neighbor award in 2020 and in 2024, was honored as the Health Advocate of the year for the Reno-Sparks NAACP.

We hope you can join us at this system-wide day of education, reflection and professional development.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
President
