Jewish American Heritage Month
May 2, 2024
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
Thank you for all you have done to contribute to a successful Spring semester! There are only a handful of classes, meetings and group gatherings left as we enter May and the final push to Commencement.
May is Jewish American Heritage Month, which pays tribute to generations of Jewish Americans who have made so many great contributions to our society, culture and history. Our University is extremely proud of the work of our Jewish students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends and for their presence on campus and the community.
It is important that as we mark this important month, our campus also affirms its strong stance against hatred and intolerance that run contrary to our core values and mission as an institution of higher learning. Antisemitism of any kind does not belong at our University.
Throughout May, there will be several opportunities to learn more about the contributions and achievements of Jewish Americans throughout history. One such event, presented by the University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, “,” will be held on May 6 from 7-9 p.m. at the Atlantis Casino in Reno. Admission is free and requires an RSVP.
University students can also learn more about Judaism at and on campus, by joining weekly Shabbat dinners, and holiday and experiential Jewish programming.
As we approach the end of the semester, let us continue to treat one another with dignity, respect and understanding. The peaceful exchange of ideas and the compassionate sharing of individual perspectives helps our campus develop deeper connections and allyship.
Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
President
