Dear Wolf Pack Family,

The University has received exciting news over the past several days regarding its national standing and reputation with the release of college and university rankings by several nationally respected publications. The rankings speak to the quality of our University in terms of our student experience and outcomes, faculty achievements, and our ability to impactfully engage with the many diverse communities that we serve.

The U.S. News & World Report 2024 Best Colleges Rankings list the . The University is also ranked No. 106 among “Top Public Schools.” Schools that are classified in the “National Universities” category offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs. U.S. News writes that these schools “are committed to producing groundbreaking research.”

The New York Times College-Access Index Rankings list the University as No. 48 among the 286 colleges ranked. The College-Access Index is a list of the county’s most-selective universities ranked in order of economic diversity, or the share of students receiving Pell Grants, which typically go to students from the bottom half of the income distribution. There are only three land-grant institutions ranked higher than our University by The Times.

In the Wall Street Journal/College Plus Rankings America’s Best Colleges 2024 listings, the University is No. 209 out of 400 institutions ranked. The WSJ rankings are based on student outcomes, such as graduation rates and social mobility, the student experience/learning environment taken from student survey responses and diversity on campus.

The Washington Monthly 2023 National University Ranking is a ranking that the University enters for the first time. The . The Washington Monthly rankings are for four-year institutions based on their contribution to the public good in three categories: social mobility, research and providing opportunities for public service.

Taken together, these rankings reflect the upward trajectory of our University while we hold true to our land-grant mission. Our University has always emphasized quality, accessibility and diversity and it is clear that our exceptional students, faculty and staff are delivering on all of these aspects on a daily basis. Thank you for achieving on the highest of national levels and for furthering the University’s impactful work in such a way that lives are transformed and dreams can be realized.
