Dear Wolf Pack Family,

As the spring semester draws to a close, I hope that you will all have an opportunity to rest and spend some quality time with your loved ones and friends, to reflect on what this academic year has meant, and to remind yourselves of what a successful spring semester we’ve experienced at the University. Achievement always rises whenever there is a group of people who are working toward a common goal. I am filled with enormous pride knowing that we are an institution devoted to seeing our students, faculty and staff succeeding at the highest levels.

The accomplishments and successes of our students, faculty and staff this year have been impressive and inspiring. Last week’s Spring Commencement Ceremonies were an excellent example of this. Commencement was held on our beautiful Quad as thousands gathered for five ceremonies which saw the University grant more than 3,100 degrees and certificates. Over three sun-splashed days, we saw firsthand the joy of our next generation of leaders as they achieved dreams of a lifetime. We saw, too, the care and pride that our faculty and staff have for all of our students. We reach moments such as these through the collective effort of our entire institution.

Throughout the closing days of the semester, we were able to honor and amplify the achievements of our students, faculty and staff at a number of events at the University-wide, college, and department level.

  • This included our annual Honor The Best ceremony, where more than 100 individuals were honored.
  • Our Affinity celebrations were held in the days leading to Commencement and were an inspiring reminder of the many personal triumphs our students have as they reach graduation.
  • On May 24, the annual classified staff recognition celebration, the “Silver and Blue Salute,” will be held at 1 p.m. in the Glick Ballrooms of the Joe Crowley Student Union.

All of these gatherings remind us of the transformative work our people do.

We can all be very proud of the accomplishments of the spring semester. Every person at our University plays a crucial role in shaping our successes.

I wish to thank you all for the success of our spring semester and for an academic year that has demonstrated yet again why the work of our University matters so much. I hope you all have an enjoyable summer as we prepare for the fall semester!

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
