Help Protect the Pack!
October 26, 2022
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
I hope this email finds you well. The fall semester has been a highly productive and successful one, thanks to your vibrancy and energy that we see on campus every day. Our campus community continues to look out for the health and safety of the people who live, work and study at our University. Checking in with each other regularly, and demonstrating empathy and understanding for everyone, is at the heart of our campus culture. It is The Wolf Pack Way.
We are quickly approaching the cold and flu season. Coupled with COVID-19, it is important that we protect ourselves and those around us. There are a number of ways to ensure that we have a safe on-campus experience, including receiving the latest COVID-19 booster as well as getting a flu shot.
The University is continuing to offer COVID boosters and flu vaccines, which are available at the , Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (Thursday’s availability is 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.). Individuals need to call (775) 784-6598 for a same-day appointment. COVID shots and boosters are free for students, faculty and staff. Flu shots are free for students and cost $25 for faculty and staff.
There have also been questions about the availability of shingles vaccines. The Student Health Center does not provide or administer shingles vaccine. However, the Nevada Public Employees Benefits Program will hold a vaccine clinic for faculty and staff enrolled in the CDHP, LD and EPO plans from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Joe Crowley Student Union, Room 422 when the shingles vaccine for those 50 years and older will be offered. The clinic will also offer flu shots, COVID vaccines and boosters, and pneumonia shots. Those participating in the PEBP clinic must [external PDF] and bring a photo ID, insurance card, and COVID vaccination card if receiving a COVID booster.
I hope that in addition to looking out for one another, you are putting in the kind of self-care that can make a big difference — eating right, and exercising regularly. The Employee Assistance Program is also available for faculty and staff.
We are all in this together. Let’s continue to Protect the Pack and keep our campus healthy.
Go Pack!
Sincerely, Brian Sandoval
President
