University's 2023-2027 Strategic Plan review opportunity

The 2023-2027 Strategic Plan is still in draft form but is now available to the University community for review.

February 10, 2022

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

When the process of developing our 2023-2027 Strategic Plan began, we set out to “find our True North” that began by discovering your bold insights, intuitions and innovations that would be critical in charting a course for our University while looking to our future.

As we initiated a series of “listening visits” with our colleges, schools, divisions and units, hundreds of you attended these sessions and we engaged in incredible conversations that demonstrated your love and passion for our beloved university. During these sessions, a point of emphasis was that this process needed to be a collaborative journey, one where we would listen carefully to one another as we shared our goals, dreams and hopes for the future of our great University.

We also spoke about transparency and how it was vitally important for the members of our campus community to feel their voices and perspectives were valued. We promised there would be opportunities for the campus community to continue to share ideas and input as we shaped our Strategic Plan.

Working with representatives from Grant Thornton, the Strategic Plan Working Group, comprised of members from our academic and administrative faculties, as well as classified staff and leadership from our undergraduate and graduate students, have been synthesizing all of the ideas and information that has been shared to this point. Institutional goals have been developed and within these goals, benchmarks are being established in key areas that will position our institution for achievement and success in the future.

The . There will be four opportunities, in addition to providing electronic feedback, for the campus community to share thoughts on the Strategic Plan:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2-3:30 p.m.: In-person meeting at the Joe Crowley Student Union Theatre for faculty, staff and students
  • Friday, Feb. 18, noon-1:30 p.m.: Zoom meeting for faculty, staff and students ()
  • Wednesday, Feb. 23, 4-5:30 p.m.: in-person meeting at JCSU Great Room for graduate and undergraduate students (cohosted by ASUN and GSA)
  • Thursday, Feb. 24, 2:30-4 p.m.: in-person meeting at JCSU Theater for faculty and staff (cohosted by Faculty Senate and SEC)

Our hope is that these four sessions will provide the University community with a chance to strategically discuss ways we can make our Strategic Plan the plan it needs to be – a definition of our strengths, as well as areas for improvement, potential and growth as we steward our resources – human, physical and financial – in the most effective and transformational ways possible.

Once we have received this additional feedback, the Strategic Plan will be finalized and submitted to the Board of Regents for approval in June 2022.

We have covered a lot of ground since our initial listening meetings last fall. Our framework for our future will not be complete until we hear from all of you again. Thank you for continuing to share your hopes and dreams for the future of our University.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,
