On Thursday, April 10, The Wolf Pack Family is invited to back the Pack during Giving Day. The 24-hour campaign is the community’s chance to come together and make lasting impact for the students and programs at the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´.
Last year, 1,129 generous donors gave more than $635,000 collectively to support the nearly 23,000 students who carry on the Nevada tradition of excellence that stretches back more than 150 years. As the University enters the third year of Giving Day, the goal is to break the 2024 record.
Participants can choose to give to what is most meaningful to them. Options include school clubs and organizations, student services and campus programs such as Pack Provisions – the Wolf Pack on-campus food and supply pantry – student scholarships, colleges and schools, Nevada Athletics, and many others. You can .
Every gift will help meet the University’s most pressing needs, fulfilling the mission of learning, discovery and engagement. In addition, each gift will contribute toward a series of challenges designed to amplify its impact through matching funds and unlocked rewards (keep reading to learn how). The support received serves as a testament to the belief in the success of the University’s students and the impact that the faculty have on campus, in the state, and wider community.
Donors can or wait until April 10 to make their gift.
Impact stories from Giving Day 2024
Here is a glimpse at the exponential impact Giving Day had in 2024 within our Wolf Pack community and far beyond it.
Due to the generosity of donors, the University Libraries offered a student internship to fill a major public service role in the department. The internship benefitted both the student, who gained valuable experience in library and archives work, and helped staff whose time was freed up to work on more complex projects. In addition to the internship, donors supported outfitting a state-of-the-art archiving instruction and programming classroom, giving students hands-on and engaging interactions with the variety of primary sources found in archives and special collections.

Likewise, Giving Day donors enabled the Desert Farming Initiative (DFI) to train students and farm apprentices on industry best practices through funding upgrades to an aging nursery greenhouse. Upgrades included adding new seedling trays, irrigation improvements and air circulation equipment. DFI is a self-funded organization that relies on farm revenue, grants and donations. Philanthropic support on Giving Day allows DFI to purchase supplies, improve agricultural facilities and acquire cutting-edge equipment to train the next generation of Nevada farmers.

Additionally, last year the College of Education and Human Development’s Dean’s Future Scholars (DFS) program was generously supported with nearly $8,000 in donations for the DFS mentoring program. All donations to the DFS program support low-income, first-generation college students from sixth grade through college completion. One hundred and fourteen individuals donated to DFS last Giving Day, 38% of whom were DFS alumni, embodying the DFS’s culture of giving back.
