Whittier Trust becomes latest College of Business Corporate Partner

New partnership will provide opportunities for students and grads in the wealth management industry

The College of Business at the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ welcomes as a new corporate partner. Whittier Trust is the largest multi-family office headquartered on the west coast with offices in Reno, South Pasadena, Newport Beach, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. It is an independent wealth management company serving high net worth families, individuals and foundations across the United States.

Whittier Trust offers a wide array of capabilities to address the full spectrum of wealth management needs. Their services include trust and fiduciary services, family office, investment management and consulting, direct investments in real estate & alternatives, and philanthropy.

“We are very excited to be a corporate partner of the College of Business,” Victoria Kahn, executive vice president of Whittier Trust, said. “Whittier Trust has had a history of hiring talented ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ alumni to be part of our team and we look forward to continuing the tradition of a strong partnership with the College.”

The Corporate Partnership program is a cornerstone within the College of Business. The College partners with numerous companies, ranging from Reno-area businesses to international corporations, to help engage with and inform students about best business practices. Corporate partners often recruit College of Business graduates, a testament to the quality education and real-world experience students receive within the College.

“Whittier Trust has been a longtime supporter of the College of Business,” Greg Mosier, dean of the College of Business, said. “We are excited about taking our partnership to the next level with their membership in the Corporate Partnership program. With their support and prominence in the wealth management industry, they provide incredible validation and prestige for all our academic programs.”

Whittier Trust has recruited many students from the College of Business and based on the quality of candidates decided to raise their level of engagement with the College.

“For Whittier, it provides an opportunity to recruit the best and brightest business students we have and contribute to their success with internship programs and curriculum advice,” Jim McClenahan, director of Career and Corporate Outreach within the College of Business, said. “For the College, the partnership provides amazing opportunities for students and alums to enter the investment and wealth management industry with an amazing company.”

Corporate partners provide critical feedback on the preparedness of the students they work with. In addition, they have the opportunity to bring real-world experience and perspectives to students through guest speaking, assistance with career development workshops and collaboration on class projects. They also help provide important networking opportunities.
