The 推荐杏吧原创’s College of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Eleni Oikonomidoy has been named the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Academic Programs.

Success in the College of Education

As a faculty member of the 推荐杏吧原创 for over 13 years, Oikonomidoy has been involved in various initiatives within the College of Education. Oikonomidoy co-founded the College of Education’s Equity and Diversity in Education graduate program, which offers both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. track. She currently serves as Graduate Program Director for the Equity and Diversity in Education Master’s program.

Oikonomidoy’s passion for research, teaching, and engagement has been recognized by a number of awards in the College of Education including the Outstanding Outreach Award (2015), Outstanding Researcher Award (2016), and the Judith S. Bible Teaching Excellence in Education Award (2019). In addition, Oikonomidoy has demonstrated her academic excellence through her commitment to teaching and advising graduate students. She has also published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters within her field. This year, Oikonomidoy also authored a book titled ‘Critical Cosmopolitanism in Diverse Students’ Lives: Universal and Restricted Expressions.’ Oikonomidoy participated in the “Faculty Academic Leadership Program,” sponsored by the office of the provost in the spring of 2019.

Stepping into the role of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Academics Programs

The College of Education recently announced a move to a two-Associate Dean structure. Oikonomidoy’s new role, as Associate Dean, Undergraduate Academic Programs will focus on providing vision and leadership for undergraduate programs and the Student Success Center. She will work to provide overall leadership in the College to boost recruitment and retention efforts, enhance internship and clinical experiences, and promote working relationships with external partners. Oikonomidoy stated that her interest in this new role stemmed from the opportunity to continue to work to create an environment that is equitable and inclusive for all.

As Associate Dean, Oikonomidoy intends to continue succeeding in her roles as a dedicated educator, mentor, and researcher, while contributing to the College of Education initiatives. “In this role, I look forward to working collaboratively with leaders, faculty, staff, and students to continue to promote excellence and be a part of the College’s upward journey toward becoming a leader in education and human development” stated Oikonomidoy.
