Drone anti-collision software, automatic solar panel cleaners, portable facial recognition software, a windshield warmer, a new rapid filter and disinfectant system for water, and an air scoop for a P-51 Mustang to eke out a few miles per hour in the air races, are just a few of the nearly 60 innovative designs on display Friday, May 6, during Innovation Day.

Innovation Day, hosted by the College of Engineering, features projects by engineering seniors who finish their degree program with a course where they design solutions for real life challenges, create a product and many times prepare it to be brought to market.

Innovation Day, which will be held at Lawlor Events Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., brings together students from all five departments in the College of Engineering: Chemical and Materials, Civil and Environmental, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Biomedical, and Mechanical Engineering.

Additionally, members of the University's concrete canoe team and wastewater treatment team will display projects created for the American Society of Civil Engineers Mid-Pacific Competition, which was held here at the University in April.

The event will also feature a keynote presentation at 12:00 p.m. by Ed Zschau, an expert in technology and innovation, as well as remarks by College of Engineering Dean Manos Maragakis and Provost Kevin Carman at 10:00 a.m..

Innovation Day is free and open to the public. For a complete event details, as well as descriptions of all projects on display, please visit the Innovation Day website.
