Show on SiriusXM included interview and lecture on “Language in Society”

Fridland was recruited by The Great Courses, a company that provides online learning courses, to write and film her "Language in Society" series, released a few months ago.

"The process has been a very rewarding one, as I get emails and letters from series listeners regularly asking more questions and sharing their own observations," Fridland said.

The SiriusXM show paired a previously recorded interview podcast she did with Ed Leon, CBO of The Great Courses, and featured one of the 24 lectures that she gave in her series about how language changes people's thinking and perception.

"The chance to film a lecture series with the Great Courses itself was a wonderful opportunity to share the incredible richness of our language system with a much broader audience than my college classes," Fridland said, "Having the SiriusXM show will hopefully encourage more people to seek out linguistics as a field of study and an area of interest."

The podcast interview is currently available on the , starting at 19:50 minutes in, and access to Fridland's "Language in Society" series can be purchased at http://www.thegreatcourses.com/professors/valerie-fridland/.
