MBA program makes Princeton Review’s “Best” list

For the second year in a row, The Princeton Review has recognized the excellence of the ƼӰԭ College of Business in its Best Business Schools guidebook.

In the just-published Best 301 Business Schools: 2010 Edition, the College received the recognition based on the quality of its MBA program as rated in surveys of business school students last year.

In compiling the book, The Princeton Review collected opinions of more than 19,000 students at the best AACSB-accredited MBA programs in the world. Students answer questions to assess 15 different factors in their colleges.

The Princeton Review’s recognition supplements the findings from Educational Benchmarking Inc. (EBI) that rated Nevada’s MBA program particularly high in categories such as overall program effectiveness, the learning outcomes achieved in using and managing technology, the services offered by the program office, and the quality of faculty and instruction in elective courses.

Faculty and administration are “always willing to listen to your dreams, and help to custom design the MBA program you need to follow,” commented one student. Another said, “The greatest strength of the school is its practical, hands-on curriculum.”

Students also expressed appreciation for their classmates. “My fellow students are mature and respectful,” said one respondent. “They are always willing to help anyone who is unsure about anything.”

Students also liked the diversity represented at Nevada’s College of Business, as expressed by one student who stated the College’s students are a “very diverse group of people, racially, culturally, and in the range of experiences they have had prior to school.”

Twenty-four percent of students in the MBA program are ethnic minorities, and 10 percent are international students. The MBA program offers areas of emphasis in accounting, finance, gaming management, information technology, and supply chain management, helping to fill local and state employment needs.

“I am delighted that The Princeton Review has once again found that our MBA program is fulfilling the needs of our students,” stated Kambiz Raffiee, director of the MBA program and associate dean of the College. “Our faculty work hard to make the program the best that it can be, and this international recognition reaffirms that we are doing all the right things to prepare our students to reach their professional goals.”

Greg Mosier, dean of the College, credits Raffiee for much of the program’s success, stating, “Dr. Raffiee has provided outstanding leadership for our MBA program. His leadership, coupled with the quality of our faculty and students, has resulted in this recognition. It’s always a team effort that achieves such excellent results.”
