Summary

I’m a new PhD student at UNR under the mentorship of Joanna R. Blaszczak, aiming to understand how hydrologic and biogeochemical processes in headwater stream networks react to climate-driven changes on both watershed and continental scales. My journey into environmental science began in the prairies of Iowa, where I spent my youth exploring local parks and learning from park rangers who nurtured my love for the natural world. This passion led me to the University of Northern Iowa, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. My career path then took me to the beautiful mountains of Colorado, where I worked in trail restoration and later in water loss prevention. Driven by a desire to understand the intricacies of water systems, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue a master’s in geoscience with a concentration in water science at Georgia State University. Outside of my research, I’m a dedicated science communicator, using platforms like Instagram (@hydrosciguy) and TikTok (@Hydro_sciguy) to raise environmental awareness and educate the public on pressing environmental issues. When I have free time, I prefer to spend it floating down rivers, skiing down mountains, or stargazing in the remote wilderness.
