Summary
Dr. Robert Simms is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and member of the Honors Faculty. Dr. Simms teaches interdisciplinary honors seminars including introductory honors courses and experiential learning honors courses. Dr. Simms enjoys guiding students in critical inquiry and dialogue and supporting them through personal and professional development. Dr. Simms is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a goal to become a marriage, couples, and family therapist.
Prior to joining the Honors College, Dr. Simms taught at Sage Ridge School. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo, Norway, a visiting Associate Professor at Chuo University, Japan, and an Assistant Professor at the University of Nizwa, Oman. His research and teaching expertise include Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Mythology, Greek and Roman Culture and Civilization, and Literature. He is the author of Anticipation and Anachrony in Statius’ Thebaid (2021) and editor of The Brill Companion to Sequels, Prequels, and Retellings of Classical Epic (2018). He has also published numerous articles and chapters that examine classical works.
