Summary
Originally from a small mining town in the foothills of northern California, Rachel moved to northern Nevada to pursue a degree in the geosciences, receiving her B.S. in Geology from the ÍƼöÐÓ°ÉÔ´´. She immediately began work for the Nevada Division of Minerals as a Geologist and GIS Specialist on the Abandoned Mine Lands program. During her time with the Division of Minerals, she visited many historic mining districts in Nevada, and fell in love with the Great Basin. She then transitioned into a position with the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology and is currently the Geologic Information Specialist at the Great Basin Science Sample and Records Library and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Geology. During her day job, she focuses on cataloging physical and digital datasets, disseminating geospatial data, and educating the public about mining and geology in Nevada. In her free time Rachel enjoys educating the public about geology and earth processes and painting the beautiful landscapes and birds of the Great Basin and eastern Sierra Nevada.
