Extension Award of Excellence for Academic Faculty

The Extension Award of Excellence for Academic Faculty recognizes, rewards and celebrates outstanding research, creative teaching and outreach activities, and exemplary faculty service. It recognizes outstanding contributions to international programs, program development, academic and global research or international research, and teaching.


Lindsay grew up on a cattle and sheep ranch in northern California and was a 10-year 4-H member participating in cattle and sheep, livestock judging, sewing and fashion review, and speech and demonstration clubs. She attended college in Oklahoma on livestock judging scholarships and obtained her higher education degrees from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. She has a Master of Science in Animal Science, a Master of Arts in Speech Communication, and a Ph.D. in Systems Agriculture with an emphasis in meat science. In 2010, Lindsay began working in Extension with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was a member of the beef team, focusing on animal care and youth animal science. January 2016 brought her back "home" as an Extension educator in Carson City. In October 2018, she transferred to Douglas County. Her current programming focuses on beekeeping, agricultural literacy for youth and adults, meat and food science, youth leadership, agricultural health and safety, animal care/welfare, and agritourism. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, reading, traveling, being a foodie and spending time with her family.
