Outstanding Senior
The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes graduating students who have excelled academically and have improved leadership in our College.
The Department of Nutrition is pleased to announce Dylan Pinatelli as recipient of an Outstanding Nutrition Student Award for Nutritional Sciences. Dylan is graduating this Spring with a B.S. in Nutrition and a minor in Spanish Language, Culture and Literature with top marks in his graduating class. Dylan has impressed faculty with his critical thinking and abilities to identify and solve complex problems related to nutrition and health. In addition to his outstanding academic performance, Dylan has demonstrated a commitment to growth, excellence and service in his personal life through his numerous work, volunteer and research experiences. Prior to enrolling in the Nutrition Sciences Program, Dylan trained as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and served four years as a Budget Analyst and Financial Services Airman for the United States Air Force where he excelled in leadership and training, earning several awards. Dylan has also dedicated hundreds of hours of volunteer work, including service with the Community Health Alliance Prescription Food Pantry in Reno, English literacy training in Korean and Spanish populations, and aiding in the delivery of goods for disaster response through the military, to name a few. While at UNR, Dylan expanded his learning through research with Department faculty. Dylan partnered with Pediatricians at the Renown Children鈥檚 Hospital to develop a study investigating the impacts of Hispanic ethnicity and acculturation on behavioral risk factors for childhood obesity, which is set to start in the near future. Dylan鈥檚 long-term goals are to become a Medical Doctor, and to continue his work with low-income, Hispanic populations.
