Aspen Dunn

Academic Advisor they/them/theirs

Summary

Shlom, everyone! My name is Aspen Jo Dunn, and I am an academic advisor for the College of Business. I grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and I am an alum from the 推荐杏吧原创. I earned both my Bachelor's of Social Work with a minor in Theatre and Master's of Art in Higher Education Administration from the University.
During my time on campus, I can say I have been here, there, and everywhere. I have been a Resident Assistant (for Wolf Pack Tower, Nye Hall, and Sierra Hall) and Orientation Leader, and I have interned for the Office of Student Conduct, Honors College, and Multicultural Center. In addition, I was a part of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, The Men's Music Fraternity, and a member of UNR's Improv Club. Alongside, I volunteered with Trans Support Reno, an emotional support and advocacy group for trans individuals based at Our Center.
Besides being involved on and off campus, my time at UNR was a long and hard journey for me. Navigating a world with no road map for a First-Gen, Non-Binary, Latine, Jewish individual was overwhelming and difficult. Having the realization that I am Queer and being comfortable with my Queerness was one of the biggest struggles for me while debunking toxic masculinity and worrying about that 5-page, double spaced, CH 203 paper that was due at midnight. I am thankful for the friends, coworkers, and mentors who have helped me orient myself in the right direction and allowed me to be comfortable in my own skin. Furthermore, I am glad the University had resources that assisted me with my classes because I will admit I failed my first exam I took in college. My inner circle and the University are what influenced me to help others, and I hope I bring the same comfortability and safety to those who come to see me.
