Department of Art Scholarship Application Requirements

In addition to the Department of Art application, students must complete the University scholarship application and FAFSA. These forms are available through MyNevada. For additional information contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@unr.edu or (775) 784-4666.


Deadline for 2024-2025 applications

Email your submissions by 11:59 p.m. on March 22, 2024.


General application requirements

All students must submit a title sheet and portfolio. Additional program-specific requirements (below) also apply.

1. Title sheet

Submit a title sheet PDF (preferable) or Word document with your:

  1. NSHE ID number
  2. Name
  3. Artwork title
  4. Dimensions — H x W x D (if applicable)
  5. Duration, (if applicable)
  6. Medium
  7. Year created

2. Portfolio

Submit a portfolio related to your specialization.

  • Writing: Art History students may submit a writing sample of 1,500-2,000 words in lieu of an image-based portfolio. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word document.
  • Visual arts: A portfolio of up to 10 images of recent work. Applicants working in video, multimedia, or performance may submit either videos or still images.
    • Video/multimedia: No more than five videos and/or interactive documents may be submitted, with total presentation times not to exceed five minutes per submission. The first minute of each submission should be viewable separately, as this is all the committee may look at in the initial viewing.

In addition to the requirements listed above, please submit the following materials relative to your program.

B.A. students

  1. A single-spaced statement of reasons for how a Department of Art scholarship will enable you to achieve your specific learning and professional goals. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word doc.

BFA students

  1. Artist Statement — One page or less, single-spaced. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word doc; and
  2. A single-spaced statement of reasons for how a Department of Art scholarship will enable you to achieve your specific learning and professional goals. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word doc.

MFA students

  1. Artist Statement — One page or less, single-spaced. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word doc;
  2. A single-spaced statement of reasons for how a Department of Art scholarship will enable you to achieve your specific learning and professional goals. This may be submitted as a PDF (preferable) or Word doc;
  3. Current CV. PDF (preferable) or Word doc; and
  4. A statement describing how you contribute to the success of the 推荐杏吧原创 community and in what ways your research practice exemplifies cross-disciplinary, engaged scholarship essential to meaningful contributions to the community. PDF (preferable) or Word doc.

Submission instructions

Acceptable file formats

  • Images should be submitted as .jpg, .gif, .png, or as PDF documents. Images should not exceed 1280px on their largest side @72dpi.
  • Video should be submitted as .mov or .mp4. Standalone audio content should be submitted as wav or mp3. Files should be kept under 20MB.
    • Interactive or code-based works may be submitted as self-contained applications in .exe or .app formats, or as video documentation.
    • Web-based works may be submitted as a URL or as still or video documentation.
    • 3D Model content may be submitted as .obj, .mtl, .3DS, .stl, or .dae files.
